COMMENTS FROM DAVE KANE REPRESENTING OUR SPONSORS
I thought a few lines congratulating everyone connected to Testway YFL, especially those who helped make last night's event such a memorable one, would go down well.
The lads will always remember the day they represented their League, against Reading under floodlights and the reason why (hopefully).
The kit looked great, there were a couple of potential stars on show and everyone had a good time. Brilliant effort by all.
My lad William asked if he could attend last night for reasons known to him. Fond memories I'm sure and proud to have been part of the league's success.
I am so lucky having a job (hobby) that links me with sport in the community, even better when the company I work for do so much in that community (makes my job easier), evenings such as last night's are what it's all about!
Please pass on to all.
WELL DONE !

20 YEARS OF YOUTH FOOTBALL CELEBRATION
Last night the league celebrated 20 years of youth football with a match against Reading FC Elite.
John Ward, Chairman of Hampshire FA, Neil Cassar Chief Executive of Hampshire FA, Dave Kane representing our sponsors and many more dignitaries attended the occasion.
Reading won the match 4-1, but the Testway lads put up a tremendous performance against a very talented side. After the match the lads enjoyed sausage and chips and the league provided a buffet for our guests. Medals were presented to both teams and John Ward presented the Testway League with a commemorative tray to mark the occasion.
Our thanks go to Andover New Street for hosting the occasion and made us very welcome.
A collection taken at the gate will be donated to a youth charity, to be decided.
The league is also sponsoring the trophies for the “Streets Ahead” football tournament to be held on the 13th April at John Hanson School.

MESSAGE FROM THE LEAGUE CHAIRMAN
Mini Soccer Competitions
The MC are very concerned with the number of issues arising in respect of the above. We felt it would be worth clarifying a number of matters as the Communications in this respect are causing some concerns.
Firstly we will start with Under 8s. There is no possibility at this satge of the season of increasing the Jock McClorey Tournament for their inclusion. That day is free and there is no capacy to create a further tournament. This is the reason for the "exhibition games" at the Mini Soccer Finals. Please note any competition would have to be "administered" by the League and that at this time is not feasible.
Withregard to the Supplementary Cups - A decision was made at the last MC Meeting and in line with our expectations and original thoughts for this Competition it will be the Teams having lost in the first round who will compete. The fixture list for the WHOLE league does not give us time to arrange further games at this stage of the season. We are sorry if this deos not suit all Teams but we have considered withdrawing the Tournament due to the unnecessary correspondence we have received. We do believe Managers need to look at the ideals of the League and the reasons for Mini Soccer. As it would not be fair on the Teams already selected to take part we have decided to keep the tournament as advised. There will be no changes.
Clubs and in particular Managers need to be aware that the TWYFL is run for the benefit of all Clubs in accordance with Competition Rules. The MC administer this and make decisions that have a bearing on the running of ALL of the League. Whilst fixtures are relatively well on target we do have Cup Finals, 20TH Anniversary Game, Martin Turner Cup, Jock MCClorey Tournament and Mini Soccer Finals to run. In addition there are Mandatory Courses to attend as well as conduct other Business of the League. There are many opportunities for people to work on the MC but at AGM time the hands do not go up.
It is unfair on Volunteers to take so much Negative Feedback thrown at them when Managers do not take into consideration the work already done and that ahead to keep the Competions being played on time.
I hope those concerned will take this to heart.

Testway YFL 5 Peter Houseman 0 Under 14's
Testway Youth under 14th reps win 5-0 against a Peter Houseman reps team,
Playing with determination & plenty of skilful passing out played their opponents,
This was not a poor Houseman’s team, just a very good all round performance by Testway, controlling the play through
Without the Houseman’s keeper playing a blinder the score could easily have been more
All the players were on top of their game and the passing and movement was a joy to watch, without doubt their best all round performance so far this season, each showing great strength, energy and skill. But most of all, playing together as a team

The second half saw Testway playing more controlled football and a superb all round squad performance saw them take the points. LETTER REGARDING UNDER 17's NEXT SEASON
Hello Roger,
Andy Vellenoweth has mentioned you have had interest in setting up an u-17's league next season. So far both Pete White (Fordingbridge Falcons) and I (Fordingbridge u-16 A) are interested in the idea of combining our teams into one side.
However there are a couple of things which may help you to attract teams into the League. As you will know, the biggest problems with football post 15 are the number of distractions / responsibilities kids start to acquire (jobs, girls, exams, cars) and this can lead to a lack of committment on a regular basis even though some limited comittment could be possible for most lads.
In short, it may help teams if their squad sizes could be increased to take this into account - to say, 25. This is similar to adult football which recognises the problems clubs can have getting through a season with a limited squad.
Secondly, it would be best if we could have more games on a more regular basis - this season was very disapointing in that respect with only 14 league games from September. To many blank weekends affected continuity and committment - leading to a loss of momentum.
If the League could attract at least 6 sides I'd be looking for 20 League fixtures.
If there were 7 sides I'd want 18 fixtures as a minimum and preferably 24.
If there were 8 sides I'd want 21 fixtures.
Would you give this some consideration please as I do feel it could make it more attractive.
Whatever happens, thanks at least for thinking about the older lads for next season.
Regards,
John Mullin
Fordingbridge
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SECRETARY IS AWARE.

INTER LEAGUE WIN
The under 13's Testway Inter league Team came from behind to beat the Peter Houseman League 3-2, scoring the winning goal in the last couple of minutes.
An exciting games with two evenly balanced teams, the Peter Houyseman league opened the scoring early in the first half, with the Testway League equalising and missing a penalty.
The second half saw the Testway League take the lead, only for Peter Houseman to equalise and they increased the pressure for a winning goal, only for the Testway League to score the winning goal after a fine passing movement.

INTER LEAGUE UNDER 12'S
Testway YFL 0 Peter Housemna YFL 3
Bishops Waltham represented the league in this the first of 10 inter league games. Three brilliantly taken goals by the Peter Houseman league wrap up this victory, however, it was not as one sided at the score line suggests. The home side put up a very spirited display against a reps team and had as much of the play, hitting the post shortly after PHYFL scored their first goal just before half time. Pushing forward in the second half to try and equalise gave the PHYFL the opportunity to counter attacked and score two further goals.
Both goalkeepers were outstanding.
One game down but 9 to go.
WELL DONE TO BISHOPS WALTHAM UNDER 12'S FOR PUTTING UP SUCH A GREAT PERFORMANCE
